Bratislava Slovakia

This morning we caught a Flixbus at 7:10 from Ljubljana Slovenia to Bratislava Slovakia. It was a long ride - 6 1/2 hours. Not having to rive means we can have a good sleep on the bus. Outside it was cold and rainy - the perfect weather to be confined to the bus.

The walk from the bus station was long , especially with our backpacks on. We’re positive apple maps took us the longest way possible to our accommodation.
Once we found our accommodation at The Bratislava b & b we headed off to meet up with our Guru free walking tours. We have done lots of these previously and I recommend them. Technically they are free - you pay the guide an amount you think is appropriate. This is more cost affective for us as a family as individually it would cost us much more.

The tour took us to see the castle, discussed the building of the UFO bridge and how communism looked in Bratislava 40 years ago.

For dinner we feasted at the Slovak pub. I had a glass of Kotoka - a drink made during communism to take the place of Coke cola which was not imported into the country. As a non alcoholic drink it tastes a little of coke with a mix of herbs - definitely an acquired taste.

Jordyn and I had a traditional main meal of Garlic soup in a bread bowl. Drink the soup and eat the bowl - like our Cobb loaf dip back home.

After dinner and a short nap - Jordyn and I met up with another Guruwalk tour. This time it is an evening of Slovak drinks and pubs. Our tour guide toured us around Bratislava introducing us to the local beverages and establishments. Great night - although 3am was too late to be getting home. No karaoke is worth such a late night!
